Ken Albert, R.N., Esq., President and CEO of Androscoggin Home Healthcare + Hospice (Androscoggin) has been elected to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the National Association for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC).
Located in Washington, D.C., NAHC is a nonprofit organization that represents the nation’s 33,000 home care and hospice organizations. The Association advocates for the more than two million healthcare professionals that provide in-home services to more than twelve million Americans each year.
“I am incredibly honored to serve in this capacity. Today more than ever, Americans desire expanded options to receive health care where they reside” said Albert. “I intend to work with the Association, members of Congress and with the Biden Administration for necessary enhancements to Medicare and Medicaid that will improve access to quality health care at home.”
Albert’s background is rich in medical experience, including seventeen years of clinical practice in emergency and intensive care settings. In that time, Ken served as Director of Emergency Services at Central Maine Medical Center, and as the Lewiston Site Manager for LifeFlight of Maine. Additionally, Ken spent five years as a traveling critical care nurse working in metropolitan, rural and tribal communities across the United States. He also served for several years as an adjunct faculty member at New England College where he taught Legal Issues in Health Care Administration. Prior to joining Androscoggin in 2016, Albert served as the Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Director of the Division of Licensing and Regulatory Services within the Maine Department of Health and Human Services. Before joining the Department in 2012, Ken practiced law in Maine, specializing in health law, professional licensing, and regulatory and compliance law.
Albert also serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Maine College of Health Professions and was recently appointed by Lewiston’s Mayor, Carl Sheline, to serve on the City’s Economic Development Committee.
