Annual Giving

" In a time of profound loss, there was also connection and even joy."

Dear Friends,

Spring brings a sense of renewal. The days grow longer, the light feels warmer, and we are reminded of the importance of connection, comfort, and care in every season of life.

This year marks the first Spring Appeal for Andwell Health Partners since coming together with Hospice of Southern Maine. While our organizations have united, what guides us remains the same, a deep commitment to providing care, comfort, and dignity to patients and families at the end of life. At both Gosnell Memorial Hospice House and the Andwell Hospice House, that care is often expressed in simple ways that mean everything.

At Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, one patient became known as “Mr. VIP.” Each morning, he was greeted with black coffee, followed by breakfast in the café where a sign reading “THE KING” or “VIP” marked his place. He loved French toast, bacon and eggs, and conversations about the Bruins and Red Sox.

Meals became more than routine. His favorite dishes were remembered and prepared with care, including a custard pie made upon request. Brownies and cookies were sent home for his wife and daughter, and even when he was away, his favorites were ready for his return. These small acts created a sense of comfort, familiarity, and dignity that stayed with him throughout his time.

At the Andwell Hospice House, a family recently gathered around a young woman at the end of her life. Her loved ones filled the space with warmth, bringing a crockpot and a birthday cake and using the dining room to celebrate her life. They shared stories, supported one another, and created meaningful moments together. In a time of profound loss, there was also connection and even joy.

In both houses, food becomes a way to provide for the whole person and those who surround them. It offers comfort, honors preferences, and brings people together when words are hard to find.

This is what it means to come together in hospice care.

As we move forward this spring, we invite you to be part of these moments and connections. Your generosity makes it possible to provide not only expert medical support, but also the small touches that bring comfort and care to every patient and family.
Please consider making a gift today to support compassionate, quality health care for all. Your support ensures every patient is met with understanding, every family is welcomed, and every moment is honored.

With Gratitude,
