“But he defied the odds, and he did it….” Watch Sebastian’s story.
Dear Friends,
I have a story I want to share with you. It’s a story about compassion, commitment, and transformation. It’s a story about living.
Sebastian is a typical five-year-old. He loves to play with his older brother, spend time outdoors, and color with his mom, Bethani.
But life didn’t start as typical for Sebastian.
Sebastian was born prematurely, and his lungs and esophagus had been severely compromised, leaving him fighting for breath and survival. He spent the first six months of his life in the hospital. He was discharged with a tracheostomy tube in place, facing a world full of challenges. That’s when Andwell Health Partners entered his life, providing not just healthcare services, but a lifeline.
Andwell’s multidisciplinary team of nurses, physical and speech therapists began providing intensive home-based services over the course of four years. Sebastian learned to crawl, walk, and then run. Each milestone was a testament to the teamwork between Andwell’s clinicians and his family’s love. “They helped him exceed milestones we never thought possible,” Bethani shared. “He’s so smart – defying every expectation.”
Why did I want to share Sebastian’s story with you? Because you, our donor, made Sebastian’s story a reality. You are a critical part of our team.
Very simply put, Andwell Health Partners cannot serve children like Sebastian without you. Today, we provide care to more than 600 children and their families. The funding Andwell receives through reimbursement for services only covers a portion of our costs. Families caring for children with significant medical needs have fewer and fewer resources to turn to for help.
We need your help to continue to fulfill the promise of our mission – a mission that has been in place since 1966.
Your donation will be put to work immediately to impact the lives of Maine children and their families who need us. Together, we can transform the lives of more Maine children like Sebastian. We thank you.
Sincerely,
Kenneth Albert, RN, Esq.
President & CEO
P.S. “They said with the (tracheostomy) he wouldn’t be able to talk at all,” Sebastian’s mom shared. “But he defied the odds, and he did it – and he’s been talking since.” Please make your gift to impact the lives of more children like Sebastian.
I want to support kids like Sebastian.
