Recipients Announced for Andwell Health Partners’ Julie Shackley Memorial Scholarship for Nursing Education
Lewiston, ME – November 22 – Andwell Health Partners has selected Tina Hammel and Nicole Latulippe for the Julie Shackley Memorial Scholarship for Nursing Education. Both will receive a scholarship of $2,000 to further their education in nursing. As Maine is in the midst of a nursing shortage of 3,200 nurses to adequately care for Mainers, nursing education is more crucial than ever.
The Julie Shackley Memorial Scholarship is named in honor of Julie Shackley, R.N., M.S.N., who served as the President and CEO of the organization now known as Andwell Health Partners (formerly Androscoggin Home Healthcare & Hospice) from 2005 to 2016. Julie’s passion for patient care was evident throughout her career, with a focus on home healthcare and hospice. She played a significant role in establishing the first freestanding Hospice House in Maine. Julie obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1980 and her Master of Science degree in Nursing in 1997 from the University of Southern Maine.
The Julie Shackley Memorial Scholarship for Nursing Education is a competitive application process available to all Andwell Health Partners staff furthering their education in the nursing field.
